A Prayer for the Twenty Fifth Day of Easter

Resurrection and the life,

When the women first told the disciples about the empty tomb, the men dismissed the story as an idle tale.  Was the proclamation of Easter too good to be true? Too scary? Why did they lack the courage to believe that your Word was credible for their lives?  Was their experience too defined by the world’s standards and harsh realities that resurrection was beyond anything they could imagine? Lord – it’s not just them, way back then.  I too find myself lacking the capacity to embrace resurrection as a real-world outcome. Give me the strength to hope in your Word and not dismiss the witnesses of new life that you send my way.

Through Christ, Amen.
