Resurrection and the Life,
You prayed that your followers might be one and abide in your love. Your hope for your church was one of community, unity, and common mission. You gave the command to love one another – not as an option but as a foundational value. Whether we look upon the hardness of our hearts in the past or the suspicions and biases that continue to linger, O God, the church has dashed your dreams upon the rocks. We remain broken and fractured. Forgive. Restore. Renew. Give us the courage to give up those things that continue to separate. Let us hold, instead, to your love and grace. Build bridges over the divisions so that we might work together for the sake of the world you continue to love from the cross.
Through Christ, Amen.
