Saying goodbye is hard, especially when good relationships are involved. On the occasion of leaving the St. James Lutheran community after serving for over thirteen years, Pastor Walt writes a two week devotional series to share his gratitude. Through the sharing of Inspirational Images, scripture, prayers, reflections on taking leave, and the sharing of memories, this series seeks to say a good goodbye. Although it is written in honor of the people of St. James Lutheran and makes reference to Walt’s ministry there, others beyond St. James might find it useful. Saying goodbye to those we love is something that isn’t an experience reserved for pastors and the communities they serve. Saying goodbye is part of life; it is a path we all must travel.

The Rev. Dr. Walt Lichtenberger has 25 years of experience teaching, preaching and helping to guide people in spiritual living. As a pastor in the Lutheran tradition, he grounds his ministry of Word and Sacrament in a love for preaching and presiding about God's radical hospitality.
